City officials announced early Tuesday that the City of Ames Municipal Utilities Service would begin adding raw sewage to its tap water as a way of reducing costs. The changes would take effect at the start of May 2020, following approval of the shift by the FDA.
Ames tap water is a point of pride for many residents, due to its nearly supernatural properties. As noted by Dr. Maria Stewart, a scientist at Iowa State University who study water supplies around the world, “The stuff is pretty much the elixir to eternal life. Anyone who has tried Ames tap water can attest to the fact that it not only tastes incredible, but it feels just as good going down.”
